Water Damage Restoration

Water damage can be caused by many problems. Some of the most disastrous issues possible, like roof collapse, foundation problems or rising flood waters, aren’t usually the culprits; leaky or frozen pipes, faulty appliances and broken sump pumps are far more likely to lead to water damage in a home or business.

No matter the cause or type of water damage you’ve suffered, HCF Restoration specialists are trained in responding to and remediating the problem rapidly and efficiently. Whether it’s “simply” a flooded basement or bathroom in your home (which to you is far from simple, of course), or a huge pool of water running throughout a commercial structure, we have the equipment and knowhow to get rid of the water and restore the entire area. We’re also knowledgeable about plumbing and construction, so if there’s an ongoing issue with pipes or structural leaks which must be addressed before remediation, we can work with you to fix the problem before beginning the nuts and bolts of our restoration work. We’ll look at that process next.

Water Removal and Dry Out

The biggest challenges when your home or business is flooded are getting rid of the water and drying out everything that’s been soaked. Once you’ve received our free estimate and approved our plan, and we’ve solved any immediate problems which may still be creating even more pooled water, here’s how we go about the job:

  1. Pumping: HCF Restoration has all of the latest dedicated technology, allowing for fast and complete extraction of large amounts of water from any building. We have gas-powered pumps which can be placed around your home or business to continuously remove pooled water, and smaller hand-held ones used to clean up the last remaining puddles. We also have truck-mounted, industrial-sized pumps which can be used in extreme situations. We don’t stop until every drop is gone, because standing water quickly becomes a growth area for mildew, mold and bacteria.
  2. Dry Out: The water may be gone, but the work certainly isn’t done; we then turn our attention to your soaked or damp walls, floors and furnishings. These days, structural drying is a much simpler process than it used to be; we now have equipment and techniques which usually let us get everything in the building completely dry, including hidden moisture pockets, without having to open up walls or floors to do it. We also use high-powered dryers, air movers and humidifiers to remove any damp air still in the building; that not only rapidly dries the affected area, but is another important step in the prevention of bacteria and mold growth.
  3. Inspection and Removal of Damaged Property: Now it’s time for an in-depth reexamination of the previously-flooded area. We’ll determine if there are structural damage issues which need to be addressed, and carpets or furnishings which need to be removed for repair or disposal; we’ll then work with you to plan the restoration work, bring in an outside contractor if needed, and coordinate the details of your insurance claim.
  4. Disinfection and Odor Removal: The last step in our process is making sure the area is fully habitable by getting rid of the pungent, musty odor that’s always left after a flood. We use powerful disinfectants that won’t hurt children or pets but will kill the bacteria, mildew and mold spores still in the air while eliminating the terrible residual smell, making your home or business a welcoming atmosphere once more.

One other consideration you should be aware of: sewage leaks and residue left by major floods aren’t just messy, they’re dangerous. What’s left on your floors is known as toxic “black water” and can only be cleaned by qualified professionals using special gear. HCF Restoration is fully qualified and equipped to clean up black water spills; be sure to evacuate the area and call us immediately if you discover one.
